Engagement
Engagement is CommunityScale’s practice for everything that moves a housing or zoning project from analysis to adoption: public meetings, workshops, city council and planning board presentations, open houses, charrettes, and communication materials. CommunityScale approaches engagement as a strategy, not a checkbox. Every engagement plan is calibrated to the specific political, regulatory, and community context, and the quality of the adoption outcome depends directly on how well the engagement was matched to the moment.
Engagement spans public meetings and visioning workshops, board and council work sessions and hearings, communication materials including infographics and concept renderings, and coordination across sub-consultants and partner organizations. The strongest proof points are adoption outcomes: Lynn’s zoning rewrite was adopted unanimously, Malden met its state compliance deadline, and Stowe’s Selectboard re-chartered the Housing Task Force to carry the findings into implementation.
