North Attleboro Mixed Use Zoning

SOLUTIONS

CommunityScale partnered with the Town of North Attleboro to update its downtown zoning, add a mixed-use overlay along its primary commercial corridor, and bring the town into compliance with the Massachusetts MBTA Communities law. The team used detailed mapping and data to design an overlay with subdistricts tailored to the character, location, and long-term plans of each area, helping the town pivot from a waning commercial market toward future economic trends. As town planner Gil Hilario noted, the resulting bylaw introduced new lot dimensions and zoning rules for economic hubs and mixed-use development, crafted with impressive analytical tools.

The mixed-use overlay bylaw is intended to move from a waning commercial market and adapt to future economic trends. They used impressive mapping tools and data to craft a bylaw with new lot dimensions and zoning rules for economic hubs and mixed-use style development.”
